How 2022 Shaped Me Into Who I Am Today: Opening New Doors of Opportunity for 2023!

I feel grateful, as I think about the year 2022 and everything I have achieved. It hasn't been an easy ride as there has been some difficult times along the way but thankfully through those dark days I've seen how life can transform in the most incredible way. It has helped me to see how important friends and family are, and how giving to those who need is a must in the society that we live in.

During 2022 I focused very much on my art but also had a deep desire to become an actress and was spending time researching how to pursue acting in the UK, I noticed how different acting resources were all over the place and some were different to others. Contradicting the other. I couldn't find anywhere that showed me step by step how to build a website specifically for actors. It really did surprise me. As a Website Designer, I started to think that maybe this could be an area I could help other aspiring actors who maybe struggling in the technical aspect of marketing their acting career.

I took several courses, read books and visited a variety of sites so I could have a good understanding of how to move forward as an actress but the one factor that was holding me back was finances. I knew I needed to have some money set aside for when I attended auditions so for several months I focused back onto my art and began thinking of ways to earn extra income. Creating courses came into mind but then I thought, wouldn't it be great to have a community of actors, aspiring and professional, who could support each other in the area of marketing their acting career, through website design, graphic design, Canva templates, actor resumes, show reels and helpful resources.

I've been brainstorming ideas and the more I thought about it, the more I had a desire to do it. It's not going to be one of those type of courses that I can put together in a day or two. No! It's going to take 3-4 months as I will be showing the step by steps of designing an Actor's website but also be using myself as case study, sharing how I create my show reels, headshots and an actor's resume. I will be showing exactly how to create social media platforms and how to make them look good using free Canva Templates, plus so much more.

I'm excited about it but also rather nervous because I know I don't have the experience of being a professional actor. I do have some experience of being on set as an TV extra. Therefore, as part of these courses I will be having professional actor guests come talk within the Actors WebXSocial Facebook community group. I have also joined the Actors Gym to receive as much training and education as I can so that I have a real good understanding of acting within the UK. The Actor's Gym includes training from a variety of professional actors, Definitely recommend subscribing to their monthly membership and/or attending their courses.

I feel 2022 has shaped me into the person I am today. This burning desire to become an actress has become more evident as I work towards learning more about the industry and surrounding myself with those who are within it.

My main focus for this year, is developing my acting skills, doing self tapes on a regular basis, getting my show reels created and having some professional headshots done, while at the same time creating an online course which is going to be a great benefit for those pursuing acting.
